99 Bilster Rear Axle And Bearing
Hi Guys,
I am busy replacing the rear bearing and is stuck with a problem of removing the Bearing Case .
I see on a manual downloaded from the documents section that it is mentioned to cut the case with a grinder. Is there perhaps another way of getting it off? I see there is also mention of shims between casing and retainer( circlip ) marked B in photo. A is the bearing case and C is the retainer. On mine there is no shim and it is the left hand side as mentioned in manual downloaded. Must a shim be installed once a new bearing is installed?
In the next picture is just to show how I tried to remove Bearing Case with hammer and chisel as described in Heyns Manual but no success.
The third photo is to show the seal(the only one ) and no other seal as described in either manuals just an O Ring here.
Is this sufficient sealing against water and dirt or is there another seal at bottom of bearing?
Anny suggestions on how to get the Bearing Case of?
Your technical expertise will be highly appreciated.
Kind Regards

Re: 99 Blister Rear Axle And Bearing
Well I have removed both side shafts now and got a price today from a local Motor Eng shop to remove bearing case and bearing as well as to to re-install new bearing and case for R 3340 ,00 per unit. I don't think it is a bad price considdering the job about it doing it at home. Now for the new bearings and seals purchase which I do not know what the cost is going to be at Mitsu. :|
Re: 99 Bilster Rear Axle And Bearing
Dunno, but R3340 seems like a lot of money to ask to grind and split a collar off, remove and refit bearings and press fitting a new collar :? .

Re: 99 Bilster Rear Axle And Bearing
Yip got the pricing today for bearing kits, seals inners and outers, and axle tube ones,O Rings.
All for the price R 1600.00 vat included.
I do not know whether the bearing sets will be available at Bearing Man or any other bearing place but opted to stay at Mitsu original.
