Recently I have started noticing a very subtle grinding or rubbing (not sure how to describe it) when the steering is at (or close to) full lock. It seems to be from the front passenger side, but when the wheels are pointing either direction. It does not happen through the full rotation of the wheels, only part thereof, and not all the time.
I'm wondering if it is not a bearing.
Any ideas?
Might be stating the obvious, but you sure the wheel (tire) is not rubbing somewhere? I got that on mine and regularly need to give the front bumper a tug
It could be bearings as the turning increases lateral pressure on the bearing. Try it in reverse. If the wheel / tire is not touching anywhere, it could be bearings (or sideshafts)

I seem to recall that low power steering fluid causes a noise at (near) full lock ...
Seems as if my issue is definitely a wheel bearing - but I just need to confirm on a lift.
The car does not get it's daily drive into work any more so it stands for a few days. This morning it was much worse than ever before and not only at full lock. After a hundred metres or so of driving it goes away.
Although thinking about it could it be a binding brake?
