Rear protection bar / arm
I had a look under my Pajero (2005 3.2 DiD LWB) this weekend and found what would seem like some kind of protection bar / arm. It looks to be bend and pushing against something. Is this designed this way? Should I have this removed and can it be bend back again? Who in Cape Town will be able to do this? Or should I go to the dealers and order a new one?

Re: Rear protection bar / arm
I am no suspension specialist but need to ask if the shape is the same on both sides. If so it is probably meant to protect the rear diff, If it was meant to be straight and with that bend it should have have shown on the mountings with stress bends or even cracking . I f it is against the diff it meant it was bumped but maybe a spacer or two on the mountins will give you some clearance.
Please correct me if I am wrong here.
Regards

jaco n,

The bar is basically a stiffner. It should not touch the rear diff - you will then hear all the difff,s songs. Take it off and bend it back into shape. After one of our trips, mine was in the same condition. A little bit of bending / hammer action will get it back into shape. Be carefull that you do not damage the bolt/ hole thread when removing the bolts The last bolt on one side that will set it free will be tight and a bit difficult to remove.
