Good day all.

I own a 2004 SWB CK series. 200 000k's on the clock.

Some of the rubber boots on the brake calipers are damaged, the ones where the lock and guide pins go through. MM does not sell these boots seperately but you have to buy the whole kit.

Yesterday I bought the front and rear seal and boot kits from MM.

I notice that the 2 x front kits come with 2 x small packets of grease. One has red grease, the other one orange grease. Does anybody know exactly which grease goes where?

Traditionally, red grease is "rubber grease", ie it won't cause rubber components to perish.

Ask MM.

The red or orange grease is for the guide pins on your caliper. That is the two pins at the back of your caliper and should be marked with a letter like G /H or something . Just can't remember what actual letters is.
Those guide pins should be greased as the caliper slides forwards and backwords on them when breaking and releasing.
Just make sure you put the correct pin in the in the right place. DO NOT SWOP THEM AROUND!
Just another tip when stripping your calipers use a compressor to remove pistons as the are realy tight in the caliper and using a pliers will damage them.
To get the springs off I used these small electronic screwdrivers flats and worked them out. When installing make sure you do not puncture the rubbers and make sure the rubbers are seated correctly in the groove of caliper.
My advice work slowly rather to rush it otherwise you are going to make a mistake.
On one of the sliding pins there is a small rubber at the tip. Those rubbers do wear and will make sliding difficult.
I your kit there should be a small rubber thingy and it is for that pin.

What does the 'kit' inlcude and how much was it in the end. Also do you still have the part numbers. I am standing just shy of 250 000km on my 2001 CK and also noticed a few services back that the caliper pin rubbers are worn and one pin actually very badly corroded, which can't be good for such a critical safety item like brakes !!

I must do the same procedure that you are doing. Soon!
