I had the front and rear discs skimmed and it didn't last long before the problem was back.
Yesterday I ordered front Power brakes and original rear discs. R2500 for the Power brakes (not cheap) and R2100 for the rear from the agents(holy cow!!).
I'd stay away from 2nd hand discs, might cost you more in the end. Money and health wise.

That aint too bad for the rear ones from the dealers, considering that the rear is a drum(for handbrakes) as well as disk setup in one, I think it is reasonable.

If the R2100 dont included the hand brake disks then its a bit much dont you think.

R1300 for front and back disks - is that for a 3.2DID? If so, it does not sound right. Attached is the quote I got for R2000, just for front disks (excl pads).

macjohnw, I agree that if you can feel the shudder in the steering wheel that the front discs are to blame, but the rears are quite prone to develop problems as well. Braking becomes noticeably jerky, especially the last couple of meters, just before the vehicle comes to a standstill.

Was it not for the friction items only? Disk pads and shoes?

If it is for the disks, buy them and sell at a profit to macjohnw

Maybe you should check if a wheel bearing is not the cause before replacing discs. Meaning it might be too loose as well.
In my experience I had the pistons in the caliper got stuck due to dirt . I removed the calipers, bought new sealing kit ,took pistons out and took fine steelwool with oil and polished them again. It seems the problem is now solved.
I changed both front wheel bearings as well.
You could also check if there is not a ball joint faulty as well as this might also transfer to wheel and feel like brake whobble.
Just some pointers and I am no specialist but after changing all the ball joints on my front suspension as well above mentioned procedure my problem seems to be away.
I must add that my car is much older than yours.

I must add from dealer to dealer the prices differ very much.
I will give you an example here.
In Secunda I was quoted R6000-00 for a whole new set of door rubbers.
I phoned Mitsu in Brooklynne and was quoted R4600-00 for the same things.
So now when I buy I phone around first for quotes to compare.
Just a tip.

I can also confirm that I had a jerky stop, exactly like Gerrit explained. This was AFTER I already fitted new front pads and disks to sort out a shuddering/jerky brake action.

What I did was to have the rear disks skimmed. Against all advice on this forum as everyone says that it is a short term solution. My reasoning was that the skimming was relatively cheap(R150 bucks IIRC), and if it turned out not to help in my problem, at least it was not a train smash. If it did help and return shortly thereafter at least I would know the cause and will then fork out the +-R2000 for new rear disks. I can confirm that this solved my jerky brake shudder completely and that the skimmed disks have so far done about 5000 hassle free km's

PS - I also ended up replacing rear wheel bearings shortly after the rear brake disk replacement as they were found to be slightly loose when the guys did the disks at the rear. The front wheelbearings was replaced many moons ago, so the rear ones has done a good service up to 240 000km. They were not noisy at all, but was very wobbly with a lot of play. Especially my right rear.

The dealers had all four discs on my Paj skimmed to solve a judder issue (under the maint plan - so no idea at what cost). I've now done approx 4000km and it is still smooth as a baby's cheek.

PS... did you fly off the Barberton mountains last week?
