Hi,
I am considering replacing brakes and reviewing powerbrake new disks and pads, what are your opinions of this product. I also tow an unbraked trailer so seems like it can make some improvement in this area based on the material, anybody got this installed (disks and pads) on a Gen3 and feedbacke, would be awesome.
Thanks a mil
David

I still have the originals in, but all feedback that I have seen thus far on Powerbrake seem very positive, so I would say go for it!Davidvan wrote:Hi,

CATS
Hi David
I have them fitted to my platkar and they are great, seeing that the car weighs more than 2tons
. Depending on the set that you take (performance or normal), the performance brakes do tend to squeal at low speeds, but their braking power is fantastic, a real difference to the normal disks.
If you are heavy on the brakes, they can add some real value to your vehicle, otherwise, go with standard.
Enjoy.

Thanks for such quick responses, will definately give it a bash and provide some feedback here on my experiences. I have got 2 unbraked trailers (Bush Baby and Rubber duck) so hoping this will help as well in this area and compensate, don't overload the trailers but still makes a big difference on stopping ability when the veicle is loaded and trailers hooked up. Also noticed serious brake fade when in Lesotho on one of the pases coming back from Katse, and supposed to help with that as well.
It looks like there is only 1 All Terrain kit so different to the platkar kits it seems.
Thanks

Brake fade can be due to old brake fluid as well.
While you are at it, purge the old brake fluid and put in new.
Interesting fact - when you tow, the rear brakes work much harder than when you are not towing, so keep an eye on the rears. (Pack in a set of pads).

Thanks Gerhard, will definately change the fluid at the same time just to be all new and clean, not sure when last it was replaced.
Hi David
Ask the guys at Power Brake to provide you with the brakefluid, they have a better quality product available that withstand the temperatures better, especially when heavy brake loads are experienced. The one thing I can tell you is that you will not experience any brake fade with theses disks. Just a word of caution though, ensure that you follow the "painfull " instructions for preparing the installation and initial bedding in of the disks. They are colour coded with heat sensitive paint to indicate heat gradients. If you look after them, they will treat you well and last very long. Also, never engage the handbreak if the disks just endured heavy braking and are still hot, for rear disks that does not have the internal drum break, this will cause hard spots on the disks and it will sound like they are "warped" when braking. Skimming will not help.
My 2 cents.
Cheers

Ok, still very early days with powerbrakes fitted and still busy with the bed in process, and I am already glad I made the change. Before when swapping between my platkar and the Pajero, I had to get used to the heavier vehicle when braking normally for robots, appears not anymore. Can so far mark me off as a very happy customer, wil see how it performs once bedded in, can't wait!
