Hi, Had clucth, dual mass flywheel, pressure plate, main bearing replaced in Dec '10, also rear proshaft redone to get rid of clunking/backlash when changing gears, also replaced left rear sideshaft with new type.
During this year another new pressure plate as 1st one started disintegrating and new slave cyclinder was replaced. All geneuine Mitsu parts.
Since then there is a shudder when going slow in gear, example driving slow on compression in 2nd in traffic or pulling away on a hill with too little gas. But just slightly giving gas there is no vibration.
Yesterday getting onto highway I noticed under relatively hard acceleration the revs climbing but speed not going anywhere, allmost as if clucth is slipping, but there is not shudder or weird feeling at all.
I eased off the gas and acceleration gradually and speed climbed as normal.
Changing to 5th and accelerating hard, same happed, revs climb to over 3000rpm, and speed hardly 100km/h, wich is usally 2000rpm. Carried on with cruise control at 120 with no problem.
After taken offramp, at 1st hill accelareated hard in 3rd, and same, revs climbing to allmost 3500rpm but speed not really increaing.
Stopped to smell anything funny, no burning clucth smell at all. Opened bonnet, no funny smell.
Had my meeting at client and hour later got back on same road, accelerating really hard in every gear at every robot, on highway slowed down to 90 and accelareated hard on hills using turbo, but could not duplicate "slip". Kept on accelerating like a train.
On my way home, tried at several robots and every hill, accelerating hard but could not duplicate slip. Got home and still no funny smell.
Unlike Wessel's post (Clunk on shifting gears Gen 3 Manual) where his shudder disapeared after towing heavy load and had some clucth smell, I've resently towed a lot of heavy trailer loads when chomping down older alien trees in the back yard, had no problem towing this heavy loads at all.
Any suggestions what this once off "slip" could be?
Earlier in this year before replacing slave cyclinder I adjusted the pin behind clucth pedal to get last usage out of old cylinder. Can this maybe be cause of slip, should I adjust the pin back to where it was?
We're leaving to Botswana for this long weekend, dont have time to take car in for checkup. I guess I'm taking a chance to do the trip, but since slip only happened once, I hope its not serious.
Hi bossieKar,
Sorry can't comment - but seems we've got a lot in common !
Hope this is not off topic, but when you say your new pressure plate started disintegrating - did you have it replaced again ? (Mine is under guarantee from dealers and although currently fine after rubber smell - it has shuddered on a couple of occasions in the last few months pulling away slowly on an uphill with little foot on accerelator.)
Secondly, what have you had done to your propshaft, how much did it cost, who did it and has it solved your clunking problem ?

Last 160 000km all work was only done by Rapidmate, its a far drive from Fourways to Boksburg but he knows history of the car.
Propshaft recon only wording on invoice, R2900.
Before p/shaft replaced, allmost cluncking sound on dif when changing gears, removed prop and had lots of play and sounds like something loose on the inside side on the inside w. When reconned, cluncking much better, only slight sound when gearbox cold.
After cluctch, dmf and pp replaced, gear changes was very hard and became harder and harder to engage gear.
Removed clutch assembly and found metal shavings coming from the plate.
Replacing the plate, gear changes was alot smoother, and changing the slave cyclinder rounder off to probably as good as new (appart from the slight shudder)

Trip to Botswana was great.
Towed our little Suzuki on A-frame everywhere.
Pitty on our way back clutch on the Pajero was slipping on every hill or when accelerating with turbo power, this time around definately smelling typical clutch smell. Also noticed clutch pedal is standing 5cm higher than compared to the brake pedal.
Apart from that Paj made this trip extremely comfortable and I can now get into 20th place on Top Guns, 287 000km on the clock
Taking Paj in on Monday.

Not sure if this could be your problem, but the guys Down Under in Australia had a lot of issues with water from the aircon dripping on the clutch and causing slipping and rust. The cure is to relay the aircon drain pipe with a longer pipe. Mine still drips on the gearbox as they describe and I never had slipping, but maybe this could be a partial cause for your problem.

Just an update.
Problem was faulty flywheel - replaced Dec 2010.
The Imperial takeover of Mitsu imports has led me to waiting more than 2 months for a new flywheel. Was told it arrived and should be ready this week.

After being Pajeroless for 2 ½ months, Pajero was delivered 2 weeks ago with new DMF (2nd one from Dec '10) and definately improved overall feel of clutch.
No more slipping, gear changes improved and shudder in 1st and 2nd allmost gone, they say should get better by time.
Thanks to Rapidmate's effort and loan Pajero Jr, little 1.1 auto was a nice drive.
