Please can anyone help, I have just had my Pajero 3.2did 2000 model motor rebuild from scatch. The vehicle starts very easily and runs perfectly under boost, the problem is when the turbo is not boosting, when I accelerate off idle there is a flat spot, then when Turbo boosts it is not evident any longer. Motor is smoking a bit on start up, but once warm, it goes away and does not smoke, are these two problem possibly related?

Have you driven a turbo engine before?
A turbo diesel engine is usually low on power until the turbo comes in.
