Good day All, i recently acquired a 2nd 2001 Pajero 3.2 DiD GLS. Here some issue re the Transfer case.
When the vehicle is stationary and in 2H i will switch to 4h, the Centre Diff light will then flash, according to the manual this means some sort of transfer case problem. If i switch off the vehicle and back on again it shows all 4 wheels are engaged in 4x4. When moving forward a noise comes from the under side, it sounds terrible. I took it to a gearbox place and the owner said it sounds like the transfer case chain that is stretched. He reckons it will be approx R6500-R8500 to repair. 1) What’s your thoughts 2) Is the costs right?,
The handling issues is when you cornering a sharp bend at around 60-70 and accelerate out of corner it almost feel if there is no more power steering, and in turns is very stiff to turn control. I read somewhere it could perhaps be something with centre locking. Any suggestions why this phenomenon appears.
