Re: GEN 3 Erratic temp gauge / diff lock lights = UPDATE
Hi,

I am so sorry to hear that. I have just called Hattingh Motors and spoke to Andre Hattingh, they instrument guys tried to fix it, but had no success unfortunately.

During the process of elimination on my side before I found that the board was faulty I had the following done:

Remove radiator and had it cored, rodded and cleaned - SIlverton Radiators (They said my head was blown - WHICH WAS WRONG!!!!)
Replaced Themostat - problem persisted
Replaced Radiator Cap - problem persisted
Replaced both sensors in the engine bay - problem persisted
Used an external gauge which indicated temp was fine, then used board from another Paj and was all clear and once board replaced my problem was resolved and had done a whole check of the cooling system

It may be a good thing to check your radiator as well at this point, as per some posts local and abroad the radiator can get clogged resulting in high temperature and poor water flow resulting in a similar issue.

Found this post on aussie forum on the erratic temp gauge issue which appears it may be a dry joint similar to the lcd display which displays the fuel gauge, hope this helps someone:

Re: GEN 3 Erratic temp gauge / diff lock lights = UPDATE
Just changed the entire dashboard today because of the same problem. In my case is definitely the gauge. With the new dashboard the temperature indicator stays just below the mid scale.

However this dash board comes from a diesel and certain lights are obviously different.

ANYONE PLEASE give me some directions on how can I remove the temperature gauge on my old dash board and replace them with the good ones from the dash board I am using now?

Detailed instructions would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Stan

On my Paj it is just a little green electronic board right behind the temp speedo and rev display cluster, not the temp gauge itself, but the small green board behind, should take around 15 minutes to replace, but try and look for dry joints if you have some good soldering skills. Don't have instructions unfortunately, will check my haynes if any useful pics in there.

Re: GEN 3 Erratic temp gauge / diff lock lights = UPDATE
hello everyone,

i just bought Pajero 2003.
and unfortunately i have the same problem with the Erratic temp gauge moreover my middle bulb of the Diff lock ( orange) is start to blink after 15min of driving of course without me shifting to 4X4 mode.
my question is, i understand that in order to solve those issue i just need to replace the CCT board am i right?
and another question i saw in other forums that i dont really need to replace the CCT board but just re-heat the pads of certain resistors, to improve the soldering.
for the Temp Gauge its the resistor R1 on the CCT,
someone of you maybe know the resistor number for the Diff Lock?

Question for Goldmember,
when you wrote that one of the problems was diff lock light did you mean to blinking of the middle bulb of the Diff lock
( orange)which start to blink with no reason at all?

Drive in 4h.

If the center diff light does not come on you have a problem with the vacuum solenoids by the airbox or you have a sticky actuator in the front diff or a vacuum leak.
