Re: Tiptronic Issues?
Hi Guys

A final update on my unfortunate tiptronic shift issues:

I eventually got my Paj to Mitsu agents in Paarden Eiland. They removed the rear cluster installation and got the vehicle back to standard, but the problem persisted. They put the vehicle on a lift and did a diagnostic check with the vehicle running but still no faults. At last, the SAC chip, installed just prior to the spots and rear cluster installation, was removed and the problem was solved. Mitsu took it for a test drive and the same problem returned. Mitsu's sparky suspected a problem with the ECU and it was removed and inspected immediately. They found some solder had been dropped between the pins on the ECU. . The gearbox ECU and engine ECU are one unit on the 3.8 petrol so when I selected downshift in tiptronic mode, the solder caused a short between 2 pins and I got reverse lights and no action at all. This could only have happened when SAC installed the unichip

MANY THANKS to Mitsu Paarden Eiland for their great service and repairing my Paj FREE OF CHARGE. First time ever I asked the agents to charge me for work done. They refused to charge me and all I got was: "Glad your vehicle is repaired".

SAC have offered to re install the unichip. I had the chip in a 3.5 petrol and it was more fuel efficient which is why I transferred it to my 3.8 petrol but I'm not willing to install it again if it compromises the reliability at all.

Thanks again to Mitsu Paarden Eiland!

Cheers,

Re: Tiptronic Issues?
John,

I'm really glad your car is sorted.
I'm also glad that for once my opinion to NOT scratch around inside a Pajero (by fitting chips and other stuff) has been vindicated. They are so remarkably reliable, that I hate the thought of anybody fiddling with it when there isn't anything wrong.

Cheers
Roelf
