Hi All

On Saturday I started my Paj, reversed out the driveway, selected Drive and pulled away. The Paj pulled away and all of a sudden lost power and the engine light came on on the dashboard. In the rear view mirror I noticed thick black smoke. It almost felt as if the pipe between the turbo and intercooler had been disconnected. This lasted for about 800m, then all of a sudden the power was back but the engine light remained lit. After switching of the ignition the engine light died and has not come on yet. I've driven 80km after the ordeal and all seems fine as if nothing happened.

What could this be? The first thing that came to my mind was the EGR. Lately the Paj has also been a little thirsty!!

Any advice would be welcome and highly appreciated! I need to be able to trust my vehicle at all times.

My Paj is a 2006 Gen3 3.2 DiD GLX LWB with 110000km on the clock.

I know nothing about diesels, you will no doubt get an answer from 4e re this. But I do know that you should go see a good mechanic or diesel specialist very urgently. If a turbo seal blows and the turbo starts running away, it will cost you a new engine.

look at the throttle pedal. There is a longish grey connector connected to it.

remove it, spray some electrical cleaner (elektrokleen or spark) on both sides (male and female) and put it back making sure it clicks all the way.

I'm pretty confident that is your issue. My Father's Di-D did the same type of thing. I performed above procedure and it has never happened since (been over a year now)
