Hi Everybody,
I found the attached, very interesting, article on the web. I compared the figures with similar articles on the web and they did not differ much from the one to the other.
Waldo Fourie
Interesting.
From the document:
What the heck do they then use in my Touareg's auto box?
It is an Aisin product,
sealed for life!
One cannot even check the ATF level, never mind top it up or re-fill with fresh oil!

Perhaps VW think the power is enough so you will not over-stess the transmission4ePajero wrote:What the heck do they then use in my Touareg's auto box?

OR
VW know that Tauregs are mostly used on the tar roads in Sandton

Gerhard,
Remember the Treg that was stranded in the Swamps after taking in a mouth full of water? It transpired that VWSA didn't even have the tools to take the heads off. The engineering that went into those over sized Beetles is best left to the Pros in Germany.
Question:
How does one know if the ATF had a "elevated temperature" event? At what temp does the idiot light illuminate?

The V10 engine is no more complex than the Di-D engine.RoelfleRoux wrote:Gerhard,

The 'problem' with the V10 TDi engine is that the beast fills the engine compartment fully.
Any work on the engine starts with "Remove Engine and Transmission"

The agents has a special trolley to make this possible, but the cost of "remove ... refit" most probably made the insurers opt for the "scrap" option. Most probably nobody wanted to accept responsibility for the removal for inspection.
Apparently the removal 9with the trolley) is actually easy.
Having done a few things on the V10 Touareg, I am convinced that, once you have the engine out, it is not impossible or even more difficult than other engines to work on (definitely easier than a R5 Renault or (old) Mini

The heads come off with ordinary tools (although you will need Torque type sockets, which VW/Audi just love!)
There are agents who really know the Touareg well (eg Tavcor in PE), who will get my business if really required.
are those boost or coolant pipes? I can't make out as they look small for boost pipes and massive for coolant pipes....
Maybe boost pipes as there are 2 intercoolers for each bank/turbo???
