Has anyone on this forum had a reconditioned manual gearbox installed?
Just had mine done on 3l V6 12v Manual. and when you change UP from 1st into 2nd and 2nd into 3rd it crunches slightly especially when cold but improves slightly when the engine has warmed up... nothing hectic but definitely crunches.
The installers say it's acceptable and its due to the oil sitting in the bottom of the box overnight.
I disagree, I have never driven a vehicle where a 'crunch' is considered acceptable.
Interested if anyone else has similar issues with a recon or original box so I can go back to them.
The Mitsu transmissions are very finicky about the oil used.
Caltex Easy Shift GL-4 75W-90 used to be the recommended oil for these 'boxes, but apparently its hard to come by lately.
Castrol MTF 1067 75w90 Synthetic is also recommended.
Castrol BOT 130 M synthetic got a good review from Gerrit Loubser, albeit for his Patrol.
