So im new to the Pajero and the forum but just needed to show off my first mod.
Came back from a three week trip through Botswana in October with the realisation that i need extra height, so here it is!
Replacing the coils/springs gave me a 55-60mm lift in front and a 50-55mm lift at the back
Next is rocksliders (any ideas or designs available) and then bigger tyres (265/75/16)
Nathan,
Welcome to the forum and nice lift man.
Which coils/spring did you install - OME? Did you only do the coils/springs or did you install new shocks also?

Hi there
I was keen on OME but i ended up installing Ironman coils (got a super great deal) couldn't resist. I have heard they are not as good as OME so we'll have to wait and see how long they last.
I just did the coils as all the reading & research i've done shows that the standard Pajero suspension has a very similar stroke length as Ironman/OME. Time will tell so far all is good I haven't tested it out off road yet as im only in week two but i have booked the Babylonstoren trail for 7 Jan so i will soon find out.

Hi Nathan,
You got some impressive increases there man! So i'm hoping you or Mac can help me: When you say stroke length, what is that? Are you saying that the suspension is able to 'stretch' longer to meet the same length as the coils go and therefore you didn't need to include alternative shocks to the set-up?
I'm in health so Stroke length has an entirely different implication

Nice, I like the lift, looks really good, a nice set of AT or MT tyres would look good there too
Redcat the stroke is the shock travel which is difference between the shock fully extended and fully compressed, most of the shocks for the Pajero, both OEM and aftermarket have almost identical measurements and as such have little impact on travel. Damping quality do differ from shock to shock though. The std OEM shocks are KYB for reference purposes.

RedCat, as Davidvan said.
The original and aftermarket shocks have basically the same travel length. Do note that matching coils and shocks are designed in conjunction with each other, so mixing and matching different coils and springs are entirely your own choice and responsibility.
I cant think that a stiffer coil would impact the shock's integrity negatively, but a weaker/softer shock might impact the coil's integrity or life span.

Never thought of that, the coils life span being affected. But hey only one way to find out right
The whole job, coils, installation, wheel alignment, and balancing cost me R5250 including VAT.

Nathan,
If your coils and shocks are not matched by design, they might not always work as efficient as they could. A weak/soft coil will cause your shock to work harder, thus impacting it's integrity/life span.
But I am no suspension expert and these are just my thoughts on the matter. Hope it works well, keep us posted on your experience with the setup. Can you feel a difference in ride quality/handling?

The coils are definately stiffer so i can only assume it will make the shocks work less or reduce the workload, but im no expert either. From what i've read the standard Pajero suspension is a very good quality shock and im counting on it being up to the task
quite a nice thread i found some time back (inserted below) worth a read. Its what made me throw caution to the wind if you wish and take the dive.

But i will definately keep you posted.
Ride quality: Definately stiffer, but not bad, it doesn't bother me.
Handling: Better, she seems to hold the road/corner better.
