Hi Cats,
Any rsponse/feedback from Mikem Suspension?
Up to date not one phonecall back from them. Maybe I was just unlucky but for me that says my money is not good enough to spend thereJDV wrote:Hi Cats,

Anyway, so far happy with the IM. Still just waiting for the rear coils to arrive in SA. Slow boats they have down under

I had my wheel alignment done this morning and noticed the same thing on my front shocks. By chance the Wheel Alignment place is an IronMan agent. The bushes were replaced on the spot.........at no cost!Gerrit Loubser wrote: Just before the 40000 km warranty ran out at, I noticed that the lower front strut bushes had been extruded out of their housings. Ironman acknowledged that they were experiencing this problem on vehicles with coil-over-shock strut suspensions, like the Gen 3 Paj, Prado, Fortuner and new Hilux. ...
This after 26 months!. I am impressed.

I had IM suspension fitted last year (50 000km's ago) and both front shocks had to be replaced on 40 000 km. The ride is extremely harsh when unladen and the shocks are not very responsive. The lift was approximately 60mm. I am thinking of replacing all the shocks with either OME or TJM's. Any suggestions?

The OME, TJM and IM shocks are all the same length as the original ones so one can basically fit any brand. Down under they rave about Bilstein but they are expensive and difficult to source in SA. BenHur has mentioned that he is considering normal Monroe Gas Magnums to replace his IM ones once they are shot. His reasoning is that any shock only last about 20000-30000km in any case, regardless of brand so rather put good but less expensive ones in and replace more often. Might be an option to look at.

Thanks CATS,
I had Monroe's on my Defender and was quite impressed with them. I'll include them on my list of possibilities.

Hi Benhur.
Can you please tell me more about the spacers you have in your car? By lifting the suspension does it affect the angles of the drive shafts? Will it wear out earlier or maybe pull out when fully relaxed?
I have been asking a few people but could not get one person that put my mind at ease. Do i have to change the springs/shocks to get a lift?
Thanks for the help.

Hi
The coils I installed have not given me as much lift in the rear as I have hoped ( I have an secondary fuel tank that is situated behind the rear axle as well and my rear end was too low for my liking. Kai made me a couple of spacers which I fitted ontop of the coils in the "cup" where the coil fits and that added some extra lift. Yes the angles are more but still in limit it is about the same as I have seen some of the GLX's with OME so I do not think its above the limit.

I had IM fitted to my Pajero 3.2 LWB two years ago and 50 000 km later changed to OME due to the extremely stiff front suspension - resulted in two failed shocks (no movement of coils). IM refunded me the full amount. Please see IM Aus comments before refunding:
RE: CK Pajero.
Ensure that the control arm bushes, sway bar bushes etc. have neutralised correctly, and not binding up the movement. Any rubber to metal bush needs to be neutralised whilst on the ground.
2) Check the height. How much height increase was achieved? Perform a droop test. If the strut is topped out due to over-lifting, that would certainly cause a very hard and non compliant ride.
3) Do keep in mind that the front coils in these are very stiff, in fact one of the stiffest coils in our range, simply due to the vehicle`s design.
4) Ensure the coil is correct for the weight. Make sure diesel coils are not fitted to a petrol.
5) Tyre pressures?
MITS038B/C has a spring rate of 141N/mm, which is around 15% firmer than the original coil. These models do have a comparably high spring rate when compared to other 4x4`s but as it is the native design from Mitsubishi that is obviously out of our control. With that said, previous installation have proven very successful for us and i`m sure for many of your other customers also.
The shock Absorber contains a valve code which is slightly firmer than the OE valve, but is more progressive, so uiltimatly should not make the ride too harsh.
Providing the shock absorbers have not seized or any other components are locked up, I would expect the ride to increase in firmness slightly, but never to the point of harsh uncomfortable or bouncy.
There is a vast difference in ride quality between IM and OME suspension (same specs for diesel engine). Ride hight the same.

I've had my IM's for about 8months no and there is nothing wrong with them, no noise, no problems. I get what you are saying about speed bumps I've had the same experience but that is not serius.
I am very happy still.
