Re: 3.2 Di-D Diagnostic DIY - without scan tool
Hi 4e!,

Thanks for this post! I had a problem with a flashing centre diff lock light on my dad's Gen 3, but by checking fault codes this way, I replaced the rear propshaft speed sensor and everything is perfect now!!
Thanks again for all your input on this site!

@Tolla

I have the same problem with my 06 SWB DiD (180 000).

Id apreciate it if you can update me if you find a resolve for this as it is extremely irritaing when you want to overtake and this "error" occurs.

Ive booked mine in to the stealers for Diagnostics and will let you know if they find anything. Thanks.

@Tolla

Had it at the stealers this morning and they are claiing it is the Dieselpump that needs to be redone - up to 32K!! :shock: :o :evil:

So...

i fetched my vehicle and will approach ABor Mitspro for a more cost effective Service.

Good luck Mate.

Re: 3.2 Di-D Diagnostic DIY - without scan tool
why do the dealers always say the pump needs doing?

My smoky idle was also diagnosed by the dealers as a failing pump. I had the injectors cleaned (ended up costing me nothing) and my smoky idle is gone!

That would have been a R30k+ dealer mistake!

Hi Rassie,
I ended up checking the transmission oil level ! It needed some oil !
Drove it to the Kalahari and back this weekend, although not towing the 2 traction control lights did not come on, and engine power was fine.
The speedcontrol kicking out on a level road is another irritating story thou !
My Paj has done 240 000 km now and apart from the traction control lights that came on I have had no problems ! Great vehicle !
I had the catalytic converter removed recently and I notice a big improvement in fuel consumption, almost an entire kilo on a litre!

@Tolla

I took mine to Allan Black for a dyno test and only get 70kw on the flywheel, supposed to be 121kw?!

Do yourself a favour and do this test. You might get a shock....like I did.

I think I must also do the catalytic converter thing, as it seems to be the norm out there? Can this cause any damage?

Regards

The removal of the cat is a harmless exercise (for your car, that is). Just go ahead and do it.
