could there be some bushes on the frt & rr stabilizers shot? could the frt & rr stabilizers collapse?

i must say - i had the frt & rr alignment done prior to my trip... - i never had this problem with my isuzu kb320...

i am prepared to hook the caravan and go to someone who might be able to help if someone know of somebody - NOT PE though ..hmmm mind you

I have towed my Xplorer in excess of 50 000km with my Pajero, previously with a Colt, and only experienced swaying once.

The swaying that I had was due to a bicycle rack that I placed at the very rear of the caravan and was the only thing I changed to all the other times I towed. The bicycles moved just enough in some wind and when semi's passed me to create a pendulum effect which started the swaying and those two aluminium lightweight bikes started a sway of a 2ton vehicle that had me gripping the steering in a pool of sweat and never venturing pass 70km/h!. I tried all types off things, extra weight in front, harder tyres all round, empty water tanks, full tanks, etc until I finaly traced the problem to the bikes. My rig is ussually super stable and I often tow at 120km/h with no stabiliser bar, so this was quiet an eye opener to me. I did one previous trip with the bikes there as well and had no issues, but on the first trip I was more worried that the bikes would fall off so also tied them with rathet straps, so they had ZERO movement. The second trip I just put the bikes on the rack and tied them up with rubber bungees leaving them to move slightly which was my mistake.

My point is that a small thing can make a HUGE difference. The Pajero is a beatifull towing vehicle in diesel format, not sure of the petrol, and with its weight make a sturdy base for towing. I would maybe suggest a look at airbag suspension mod at the back as a future change if you tow a lot as the single swing arm suspension configuration of the Gen3 Pajero at the back give it a bit of a "Volksie Beetle" effect when loaded at the back, which could lead to excess tyre wear on the tyre insides.

I never claimed to be a 'boffin'.

I just posted what I learned from many years of towing.
I towed my first heavy trailer (unbraked Skipper) behind my dad's Chev Constantia in 1975.
I'm fortunate not to have had even one 'sway-away' incident in the 36 yrs of towing.

PS One item I forgot to mention, is that shock absorbers on the trailer / caravan will improve stability significantly.

I have towing caravan for years now starting with a Penta ,Prite Swing and now A Conqueror Commander which is not designed for high speed towing.
On my normal road caravans weight distibution is paramount- ie:
Too much weight at the back will most defenitely cause swaying and so too much weight to one side as well.
I had a problem once with swaying and it was due to bad tyres- meaning incorrect tyres - I swithced to a 8 ply bakkie tyre and all problems stopped.
Now with my off road caravan I even stretch the speed to 120 sometimes with noe problems at all- but I make sure that weight is distibuted evenly as for nose weight it is automatically heavy as the nose cone houses three gas bottles and geyser and some loose stuff and just behind it the kitchen unit with Fridge and so on.
I do not know what caravan you use but check out tyres and pressures and abovementioned aspects.

hi everyone,

some feedback on my snaking combination: - i did the following: - i set my yellow blade a lot stiffer - me thinks it was way too soft....

i also remade a new drop plate 20mm lower - (i am fortunate to have access to a xd plasma cutting machine) - i also made 4 holes to tighten onto towbar - i.s.o. 2.

went camping this weekend and what a massive difference .
