At this moment in time I am both sad and p****d off because my beloved Pajero will have to be parked for a while because of a knocking noise from the motor.
On the plus side, the vehicle is still under dealer's guarantee and should be fixed for free. I can't wait for my next holiday to take the wife and kids out on an adventure in my "new" Pajero.
Hope to meet some members at a fun day/event in the near future once my vehicle is repaired.

It would seem that the noise could be big end bearings, but I'll know for sure tomorrow after the motor is opened.
Good thing I caught it in time, since I only purchased the vehicle 3 weeks ago. (I have a 1 month warranty)

Pay the guys a surprise visit and have a look at your valve train as it could be the cause. Those engines are not known to have bearing problems and are normally pretty much bullet proof in the bottom end.

I have yet to see my motor, since they were still taking the motor out on Friday evening and they close for the weekend.
I will inquire about the valve train, but the reason for thinking its the bearing/s is because of the loud knocking noise from idle to +- 3000 rpm under acceleration.
Its almost like a clapping sound that seems to die down around a constant 3000 rpm.
Any ideas would really be appreciated since my knowledge of motors isn't all that good, and I will be visiting the mechanics tomorrow.
