Has anyone done a DIY centre roof console on the Pajero (gen2 specifically)?
I'm looking at building one to house a VHF radio and to replace lights and possibly to mount a DVD monitor.
Just looking for ideas at this stage

I have looked at a few, and might use some ideas from the attached images as a starting point.

I would possibly add the following:
- Fit a RAM mount for the iPad, so that it sits just below the rear view mirror. (The iPad is proving to be a great nav tool!)
- Clip for the hand-held radio (with charging facility)
- Fit an array of power supply plugs (12V ciggy plug, 12V Hella, 220V (from inverter)
- The storage compartment has to be accessible by either the driver or the passenger. I like the use of an open compartment with elasticized netting. I don't like the door that 'falls open'. Where do you store goodies? On the lid?
- Add elastic netting pockets to the sides for maps etc.
This will make it practical for the rear passengers as well.

In a recent edition of WegRy they had an article on a guy who build his own roof console for his Hilux, he also did it mainly to house his radio. Maybe have a look at that for ideas?

Whisper Boat Academy make a console for about R500. I got one there and fitted in my Hilux when I had a Hilux (I now own a 2.8 SWB Pajero). It can be cut and shaped to fit probably any vehicle. Website below.

I'm in the planning phase of installing a VHF radio mobile unit.
Ideally I would also want to install it in a center overhead console, but my Gen 3 also have a sunroof...
...any suggestions as to where to install the radio unit?
