Bashplate recommendation
Good morning guys

I seem to have lost the silly plastic "bash plate" on my Pajero. Surely this is a sign that I need a proper one ;) .
I believe my opions are:
- Frontrunner
- Lynx
- Stofpad 4x4

I quite like the Lynx one as it looks strong and provides access to the oil filter without removing the whole plate. I don't know much about the other two.

Any recommendations?

Re: Bashplate recommendation
At the LASport show Stofpad gave me a price of R2500 for their plate, and it goes all the way to the gearbox crossmember as I understood it, and it is thick, dont know about access to filter.
In another thread it was mentioned the Frontrunner plate is 3mm thick and I think the Lynx go in at 4mm.
One of these plates, Lynx if I remember correctly, got a design where the bolt heads are protected from getting damage by rocks, I like this idea.

Re: Bashplate recommendation
Hi,

I have a LYNX plate on my Gen 3 LWB.

It is 4mm and very strong. As far as I know they manufacture in two parts, front one up to the first crossmember(sp? I have no idea what this is) and then one behind that to cover the transfer case if I remember correctly.

I only have the front one. So far it has proved to be sufficient. Judging by the marks on the plate, it has already saved me plenty of hardship.

I would definitely recommend LYNX. they have fitted my rear bumper and will very soon be building me rocksliders/sidesteps.

Regards

On their web site, they only show one bashplate that goes to the second cross-member. There is a transfer case protector for the 2007 model.

Id definately want something to protect the transfer case too. And then there is the tank protector...

I like the idea that it goes all the way to the gearbox, but how heavy is it?

Pierre,

The front one might go to the second cross-member, just check with Charles from Lynx.

On vehicle parts I'm not very technical, so if you told me it went to the 5th cross member I would most probably believe you.

Re: Bashplate recommendation
I am installing my 4th Stofpad Product next week.(Rocksliders) I have the Gearbox plate, and the Bash Plate (with Oil Filter hole)
And Suspension Lift kit. Yes I am biast, BUT I built a personal relationship with Uys, and feel that I can go back with any issues. I am not keen on Trying to get changes done or complaints sorted with the "Bigger" ones out there. I do suppose that the rest also make very good products, i suppose price is going to be the deciding factor.

This answers a number of my questions, thanks.
