Gen3 Diffs & Transfer Oil Change
This past weekend, I decided to do an oil change on the diff's and Transfercase of my Gen3 3.5L Pajero.

Armed with the info I got from this forum - I went to Midas.

For the Diffs:
Caltex Thuban Gear Oil GL-5 80W-90 (6 x 500ml)

For the Transfercase:
Caltex Easyshift Transmission Oil GL-4 75W-90 (6 x 500ml)

It was the first time for me doing either of the jobs, but the oil changing on the axles went smooth. It took just under 2.8 Litre oil for both axles.

Then onto the Transfercase. The Filler bolt took me a while to undo. After a few hours and plenty of Penetrating Spray I got it out.

I drained the oil, cleaned the magnets and started to refill.

Now my question - I could only get 2 Liter of oil back in? The manual states that it should be able to take 2.8 Liter?

Is there a specific position the transfer should be in? Or is there something else I did wrong? :?

Unfortunately I did not measure the amount of oil that came out.

Please advice!
Re: Gen3 Diffs & Transfer Oil Change
I did the transfer case on my 3.2 Did 2006 and also only got 2-litres in after it had drained completely. I then took the car off the jacks as the front was still a bit high but only managed to get in about another 300ml at the most.

The 2 x differential front and back both took the correct amount.
