Electric window has stopped working. (Drivers side)
Hi all,

Hope this finds you all well?

Saturday my driver’s side electric window would not wind up however I could hear the motor spinning away furiously. I have removed the door panel and removed the motor and harness, but now I need to take it to somebody where I can have it checked to see what the actual problem is and if possible fixed or if I need to buy a new one.

Could somebody please advice where I could take the unit to have it looked at?

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm in Johannesburg.

Regards,

DJ

Hi DJ,

Did you solve this problem? If so, how?

I have had the same problem - and it has been getting worse. Driver's window would wind down but then stall when winding up and return down - i.e. safety function kicks in. Finally decided I had to strip the driver's door trim to see what the problem was since sometimes it would take up to 15 minutes to get it to finally go all the way up - a bit embarrassing at security check points etc.

Once I had stripped the trim I found that the cable (the window mechanism is like a miniature winch - cable + drum) had multiple broken strands and the drive would stall when a bit of cable birds nest hit the lower pulley - so next step will be to remove the whole mechanism from the door. No doubt Mitsubishi will consider this a non-serviceable component so I will need to see if it is possible to just replace the cable.

Howzit

I've had this problem on my Pajero - Andrew is right it's a non serviceable part so you'll have to get it replaced - the problem is that they told me they can't replace only the broken part they have to replace the whole mechanism which costs about R3000. So I've been driving with my window stuck closed for 3 years haha.

Please let me know if you hear anything different.

Hi @anthonyricco,

At least for the 2002 LWB (and NB LWB and SWB parts differ) the mechanism is apparently made up of two assemblies:
1. the motor
2. the "regulator" i.e. seemingly the mechanical portion

For my model the part was used from 2000 to 2003 (not sure of exact VIN numbers).

Apparently the regulator last known price a bit below R800 - but Imperial parts system is offline this morning so probable current price and availability unknown. Once I get some definitive answers I will post.

If any of you guys need a spare motor, I might be able to help.

I had this problem with the window not going up properly after I had to replace the left rear door window after some smuck broke it to steal my EMPTY laptop bag  . Since the replacement window was fitted I also had this thing where the window did not go up properly. In the end succumbed and had it replaced at the dealers. Not sure what they put in but seem to recall that it was about R3000 worth of effort so possibly the motor? I got the old part lying somewhere in my garage if it can help someone? Just shout.
