Hi All.

I bought a Pre-Owned Generation 3 Pajero last week. Its a 3.5V6 LWB Automatic with 160000km on the clock. Right nw, everything works great on it, and I am very happy.

The problem is, it does not have a service history. What I want to know is, for a vehicle with that mileage, what do I need to look out for when doing its service (I am doing one next week). The vehicle "refuses" to exceed 140km/hr. Is this normal? What could be causing it?

Is there any mechanic/workshop that you can recommend in the Mafikeng/Zeerust or Rustenburg who can do the job well, and affordably?

The only guys I know in Rustenburg are the stealers.
I do not know whether other guys can be trusted in that place by the looks of it
But a 3.5 is a very hard motor.
I will check out the following just in case:
Maybe replace gearbox oil with Mitsu Diaqueen,
Check all your waterpipes especially the ones against the firewall as when these blow you will be in serious trouble.
I have recently replaced all of mine the whole engines pipes with new ones as well as all pulleys as they were noisy and had the lifters changed as well as valve stem seals done- only realy when it is smoking a bit.
Check that your fan is oprating like it should-viscious fan
do a complete oil change diffs and engine.
check suspension parts for play especially ball joints and steering links, if ok grease them.
check grease in wheel bearings and tension
do a proper pressure test it takes only two minuts and will you exactly if there is any small leaks .
Flush radiator and I will also flush breakfluid and put new brakefluid.

Since last post regarding this:

The power, or speed problem was due to blocked injectors. I had them taken out and cleaned. Then after a major service, which included a Cambelt inspection, I had the Catalytic converter removed, and replaced with a steel pipe. Hopefully I will be getting a free flow exhaust very soon. The vehicle pulls like the big V6 it is, and consumption wise, I average 13.5L/100km, on a combined cycle, which I believe to be reasonable.
