Did you by any chance fuel up in Kruger?

I went to Kruger at Easter and the car was running fine. But after I fuelled up at Satara I could not creep along at low throttle - would have to press further and further on throttle and then the car would accelerate more than I wanted and I would have to back off. Didn't notice any more smoke than usual when game viewing (always seems a bit smokey at low revs tootling along at 15kph).

Once I fuelled up outside the park the symptoms disappeared and have not returned so I put it down to bad fuel.

Hope you come right and your holiday is not negatively affected.

Yes we did fill up there. Sounds similar to what is happening with us. Continuing to Punda today.

Hello ouens,

We are back. Seems combination of bad fuel at 2 Totals stations in the park caused excessive black smoke and irregular revving. We drove to Tzaneen after leaving the Punda maria gate and virtually emptied the tank, drove until I could see the red line ontop of the guage. After that filled with Sasol and all smoke and jerking was gone. It seems the altitude also had played a role.

Anyways she was back to her normal self climbing big hills towards Magoebaskloof with not even a puff of smoke with trailer in tow.
