The large 2nd row seat on my Gen 3 Pajero won't unlock to be folded up toward the driver's seat. Bummer. Used to work and was very handy, but can't get it to release now.

To be sure: You are lifting the little handle behind the backrest to release the seat? The trick is then to do the "roll forward" motion in one smooth action.
If you are trying this with no result, I suggest you get onto the seat and bounce around a little and then try again. Basically encourage the mechanism to snap release.

Mine does the same thing. The part of release mechanism that locks onto the bolt on the floor gets stuck and won't release. No way to get to it while its stuck which is a bit of a design flaw.
If you bring the backrest forward after pulling the level and the seat bottom won't lift, you have to return the backrest to its original position. Pull the level again and retry the operation. When mine was stuck, I did it about 50 times before it eventually released. The level only has an effect if the seat back is fully upright, thats why you have to return it there before retrying.
Make sure that you clean the release mechanism and the little indentation in the floor where the retaining bolt is. Any fluids (read: I have a small child that spills cold drinks) will end up in that indentation and jam the mechanism.

Hi guys,
On the outside edge of the seat there is a cable that you need to adjust. You will have to remove the panelling on the rear (bottom) and side of the seat to get to it. Once the panelling is removed it is a one minute job.

Mine did the same - the cable was broken - McCarthys Trim sorted it out.
