Gen 4 3.2 SWB erratic gear change
Has anyone experienced this ?? 2010 GEN 4 3.2 SWB 38000 km on the clock. When driving on a flat road i.e. R21 highway at a constant 130 km/h or 140 km/h, the transmission continuously (every 4 seconds ) changes from lockup to 5th gear and back to lockup and back to 5th and back to lockup continuously. This also happens in tiptronic 4th and 5th. This started about 3 months back and is driving me insane. Oil has been changed and gearbox module readapted. I have taken 2 different staff members ( workshop foreman and service manager ) from the dealership on a test drive and they have never experienced this before and they are not sure of the cause. Surely this is causing premature wear in the transmission !!!
The vehicle was at the dealer for 2 weeks and the technical guy's from Mitsu head office were involved. Extensive tests were carried out including pressures etc. and I was told that the gearbox is behaving normally. Any Ideas ??

Roelf......I posted here as you suggested.

What size tyres are you using?

It's possible that your line pressure is out of spec, or the transmission ecu has ill-adapted to your driving style. Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours to reset the transmission gear change adaptation.

Alternatively you can buy a lock up kit (see my signature) to override the lock up clutch.

Hi Marius

All the suggestions that you made have been carried out. New oil after flush x 2, readaption of gearbox module, software check, memory erase and reload etc etc etc. No luck. :x

maybe it's correct now where it wasn't before.

I know mine hunts between lock up and unlocking when climbing certain gradient hills.

Now I flick a switch and it stays locked.
