I went to see a reputable local car alarm instillation business to request a quote for a VESA 3 or 4 car alarm as required by my new insurance (Tuff Stuff). I just arrived from Netstar where they installed an early warning unit, also required by the insurer.
The alarm guy advised me not to install the VESA 3 or 4 alarm as it will eventually cause problems with my Pajero's computer box, resulting in having to replace it later. They have to cut in on the car's circuitry or something. He was willing to compile a letter for his statement, which I am awaiting.
Did any of you have the same issues or were advised the same?

Why did TUFF STUFF request a alarm
Your vehicle is fitted with a immobilizer which is build into your key. I recently also joined TUFF STUFF and they accepted the vehicle system but requested proof of a TRACKING system

Apart from my key, I have no other security measures in the car until I installed the Netstar tracking unit this week.
So the key acts as an immobilizer then? Like a chip in the key that connects with the ignition when in close proximity?

The GLX does not have an internal alarm/ immobiliser. The GLS may have something. My GLX does have an aftermarket security system installed adno problems up to now.
Maybe off topic... How many Pajero's do you all know that was stolen?

Some good news:
The Pajero is factory fitted with a immobilizer (transponder chip in the key). I scanned and e-mailed them the Mitsu's Owner's Manual referring to the immobilizer and here is TuffStuff's feedback:
The underwriters have reviewed the manual and have advised that the immobiliser in place is sufficient.
Sweet! No extra alarm or remote on my keys ;D
Thanks for the input.
As they say: RTFM.
