Re: Petrol or Diesel - Which is best?
I have owned petrol and diesel Pajero models, the differences mentioned in the above posts is a fair summary.

If I had to chose between two very similar Pajeros in terms of condition, age, km's and price - then I'll pick the diesel. But if a 3.8V6 MIVIC is out there for R100k less than a similar DiD, I'll take the 3.8 (which is why I drive one  )

Re: Petrol or Diesel - Which is best?
Hi I have a Silverton Radiator franchise in Wynberg Sandton but I have been in the radiator bussines for twenty one years. I have a 3.0 V6 ECI Multi Shogun Pajero. After driving a Colt 2.8 with the 4M40 engine and spending a good R 25 000,00 on the engine and almost a second time, my mind quickly changed. I should not have listened to some friends of mine to buy this Colt but I did to my greatest regret.

The Pajero drive now are by far more reliable than the Colt, you might ask what about fuel consumption, well how does 8,5km to the liter sound. In all my years in the radiator bussines the Mitsubushi diesel engines are known for cylinder head gaskets blowing, timing chain problems, and a whole list of other related problems to the above.

My honest opinion "Petrol".

Re: Petrol or Diesel - Which is best?
Thank you to all for your comments, I am in the fortunate situation where my boss pays for all my fuel (including all private mileage) so cost of fuel is not a factor. I also recognise the basic differences in the peformance (torque, consumption etc.) - my main concern is reliability and long levity of petrol vs diesel engines.

If your only concern is reliability, then just buy the best looking Pajero.
