Rust on sunroof metal bracket
Hi there,

This morning I was checking out my sunroof and to my horror I notices a fairly large patch of bubbling/rust in the metal support bracket that holds the sunroof in place. I have a 2004 Gen3 GLS.

I called Mitsubishi in Umhlanga and it took me about 2 hours to pick my jaw up off the floor when they told me the cost to replace the unit... R8000.00!

Does anyone have any alternate ideas as to how I can sort this out without the massive outlay of going to Mitsubishi.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Dale

I suggest you get an opinion from a reputal panelbeater/paint shop ... your dealer would send it there anyhow...ask them to quote to have it removed and repainted after treatment.

Re: Rust on sunroof metal bracket
I picked up the same problem on my 2008 GLS and the quote also came in around R8,000. Now I am trying to find out from the dealers what the rus warrantee is on the vehicle. So far no written responses, just a verbal "3 years or 100 000 kms, whatever comes first". The question is why such a limited warrantee (VWs has 10 years) and why couple it to mileage? It seems that the rust on the sunroof bracket is a common problem and hence Misubishi must come to the party and recall vehicles to get it fixed. Are there any members whose Pajeros have been repaired within this 3 year period or knows for sure how long the rust warrantee is?

Yeti,

Please include a photograph so that I (we) can see where the rust is - maybe I (we) have a similar problem.
