Gents,
I did a search on this forum and found only "stone protection", so excuse me if I repeat a thread.
I may want to try and protect the tomato colour of my Pajero while in Botswana later this year, so did a bit of research on the internet.
I found an outfit called "Strippable Coatings".
They replied to my query and this is the basics of it: "PaintShield is only available in a 1lt can. Pricing is R350 (ex vat) and courier (if applicable)."
From what I can gather can this product be applied by either a spray-gun or a paint brush. You apply it and when it is dry it protects the paint finish against scratches and when you are done, you peel it off again.
Here is my question:
1)Has anybody ever used this or a similar product and do you have any advice?
Go to your local branch of Maizey (www.maizey.co.za)and look at Grafityp SCP02 Stone chip protection film. It is a 240 micron clear film and can be removed using heat from a hair dryer. I bought 3 metres for R750 and used less than half to cover the nose of my 2009 Pajero GLX. It is a similar film used by VPS tec, and although you may not get the professional type application and finish, being clear it does not detract. The quote from VPS was R5500 for a similar job.

They also have a 120 micron film which is about half the price.

Thanks Rory,
Will follow-up on your advice.
Were you happy with the way it came off your Pajero again?

Great lead @roryb, thanks. The site navigation on that web site isn't that great, so to help, here is the page with the datasheet links - Grafityp Technical Data Sheetsroryb wrote:Go to your local branch of Maizey (http://www.maizey.co.za)and look at Grafityp SCP02 Stone chip protection film.

OK, red flames won't suit my red car - maybe I should go for yellow flowers and green dragons. And the obligatory sticker which states that you shouldn't laugh, your daughter could be inside
