ATF Level
Hi. I have a Gen 3 3.2 DID and have an issue with the ATF level. I check it using the proper procedure and find it in spec. However, the gearbox struggles to change especially on kick down. I add about 300 mls of ATF and the problem goes away. there is no leak that I can see. So two questions: 1. Where is the oil going and 2. How do I know what the proper level should be?
Re: ATF Level
Hi

Did you follow the corect procedure for checking the ATF level? Ie. engine idleing, gear selector in neutral and parked on a level service??

If so are you using the correct ATF, the mitsu's are VERY picky on the type of ATF used. I only use the mitsu branded DiaQueen supplied by the agents. If that is fine then you maybe need to do a ATF flush with a filter change, search for 4epikanini's post on the DIY flush and filter change for the gear change.

For the leak, have a look at the front of the Paj as the car has an ATF cooler in-front of the radiator, is there maybe a leak somewhere on the hydraulic lines or cooler if you cant see any ATF leaking around the gearbox( which would normaly be either input shaft seal or output shaft seal). Or maybe leaking into the transfer case, have you had a look at the transfer case oil, is it contaminated wiht ATF?
