I’m not sure if this applies to anyone else, but I have only recently, after eight years of driving my Paj0, discovered that my Gen. 3 has what can generally be called “Auto-On” headlights. Driving with headlights on during the day apparently makes your vehicle more visible during normal daylight, but few of us will ever bother to turn these lights
on. So manufacturers started adding and then boasted about this feature on many newer cars. Mitsubishi has never mentioned this as a feature.
In the past I would normally turn off the engine and when I see the lights are still on I would turn off the lights as well because the lights don’t go off when you turn the key to off. Great was my surprise when when I recently left the lights on, on purpose after the engine was turned off. I found that the lights remained on until the driver’s door opens and then the lights would automatically turn off.
Thus if someone likes to drive with lights on during the day he should never turn the switch to the “off” position, the lights will go off as the door opens and when you start-up next time the lights will automatically go on again thus offering you an “Auto on” feature.
I’m sure many of you new this but there may just be others WHO like me never picked this up. It will be interesting to know if this is general knowledge or not.
I'm sure this is in the manual.
When I bought my pajero last year, I read through the whole manual and I've been using this feature since I bought the pajero. Maybe I found out about it by accident, but I'm sure I must have read it in the manual.
Time to go back to the books I believe.
It is a very nice feature though.
