What I found was that the Engine light and the Centre Diff light started blinking at a constant rate (about once per second). There were no changes in duration and no pauses at all. I presume that is an indication of a clear bill of health. Am I right?
I have also found the following:
You can do the DIY diagnostic by bridging pin 1 and pin 4 or 5 with a piece of wire with 1mm wire ends crimped onto the wire.
Pins 4 and 5 are earth terminals.

I have only had my Paj for a few months and experiencing the 2 warning lights coming on. ASC and TC. NO ABS or Engine light like some people have experienced.
This occurs on a long uphill under load and lights always go off if I tap off.
I have checked error codes and it seems that I have 16, 41 and 43. The CD light was also flashing continuously when checking error codes but I now see that means all is ok in that department.
As I dont know the full history of my car, the error codes could have been there for ages so I thought it would make sense to clear the codes, drive for a while and then recheck to see what has come back.
How do I clear the codes. I thought I saw something about disconnecting battery, for how long ? and then I thought I read something about that upsetting other stuff in the car.
Please point me in the right direction.

Does anyone know if this DIY code check also works on a Generation 4 (NS-NT) with the 3.2Didc engine? Or are they now OBDC11 compliant and you need a reader to check fault codes?

I think OBDII compliant - see this thread: http://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/sho ... p?p=232624CATS wrote:Does anyone know if this DIY code check also works on a Generation 4 (NS-NT) with the 3.2Didc engine? Or are they now OBDC11 compliant and you need a reader to check fault codes?

Edit (only answered half the question): Of course, the fact that it is OBDII compliant does not exclude the possibility that the DIY method may still be supported. Does anybody know?

Thanks, yes that second part of the question is the interesting one. I am pretty confident that they are OBDII compliant from gen4 onwards.
Wonder what will happen if you earth pin 1 on a gen4?

To answer CAT's question - if you try it on a Gen 4 interesting lights flash on the dash - just not the right ones.
In haste followed a thread that had heading Gen 3 and 4 DIY fault codes without reading to the end - so definitely not for Gen4!
Fortunately no smoke and all seems fine - have since bought a OBDII Bluetooth reader for R300 and this gave the fault code I was looking for on my phone. Nice addition to my tool box.
In my case the Engine warning light = replace fuel filter.

Does this OBDII also work on the 3.8V6 MIVEC? When I browse their websites I can't find my car on the lists.
