Good morning gents,
A good friend is in the final stages of deciding which Pajero to buy. It is likely to be post 2010 and the SWB. I have been able to offer him reasonably accurate info on the various aspects of Pajero (thanks to all the wonderful info on this forum), but I know very little about the CASCA system.
One of the questions is: How does one load maps on the GPS system and is it possible to load current T4A and Garmaps? His Platkar is a C class Merc and he considers the GPS on that to be pretty unfriendly and not very accurate.
Your advice and experience please,
Roelf
Roelf, I have one of those units in my car and I am not inpressed. The Radio sounds fine but the reception is terrible. The GPS is not great either. I have decided not to load T4A as I prefer to use my trusted old Garmin. Unfortunately it will cost to much to replace with a propoer radio.

"I have decided not to load T4"
Thanks Chris,
This implies that one can load T4A and Garmaps. How does it happen (CD, SD card or some other format)?

Sorry Roelf, didn't answer that part of the question. The Garmap comes on a SD card which can be updated on your computer. You can plug the computer into the radio as well but I have not tried that method. T4A was released resently, albeit a bit expensive. I use T4A on the Garmin and therefore decided not to load it.
There are 2 SD card slots on the radio. The one is for the garmap and I use the other one for music on a 8Gb card. Quite handy when you are out in the sticks with no reception.

Chris,
Cool, very clear answer and thanks for the effort to get back on that one.
Am seeing my buddy later today - we have a lunch date. So I can continue my steady info flow. He has down loaded every Youtube clip with a Pajero in it and is even more sold on Pajero now
Luckely the girls are busy planning our daughter's wedding - so the manne can talk "car" without being rude
