The issue is I only got one key and alarm remote with it. I have easily gotten a spare key, but I am coming unstuck with the alarm/central locking remote.
Initially I thought it was after market, as it has no branding on the remote unit itself. But in the glove compartment is the instruction manual for the factory fitted alarm and security system- and its clear from illustrations and instructions that I have a genuine OEM remote. However, two dealers I have contacted say there is no part like this, and they don't have a solution for me.
Some more info on the system: See attached pics of the remote. The remote itself also has metal contacts on the outside, and there is a place to "plug" it in under the dash to disable the alarm. The manual for the system says that Mitsubishi are able to program extra functions in it, to program that all doors unlock simultaneously etc (at the moment, one push opens driver door, second opens the rest). I know the vehicle is 13 years old, but surely they can't simply no longer have stock of these parts, or know how to reprogram them?
I have found an instruction booklet on how to reprogram the "shurlok" system that came with the Gen2's, but 1) I dont know if this is shurlok, and 2) it clearly says that for my year model it cannot be reprogrammed without the diagnostics tool, and that doesnt solve the problem of me needing a spare.
Am I left with no choice but to fork out for an aftermarket system?
Thanks
