Took my drawer system out the back, instant lift. That thing is quite heavy.
Hey GT - you just trying to make us envious?Gemaskerde Tuinvurk wrote:Got my MadMan EMS installed today! So much info![]()

Which sensors did you get connected up?
EGT +
And where did you fit them?
If you have a chance I would love to see some pics.

Wanted to do it at Mitspro, but when they asked for the wiring diagram I thought it best to install at the guys I bought it from - Landyonline.
I thought they did quite a neat job. Sensor for EGT is however installed post turbo, so readings are about 100degC less, but Sho - can't believe how sensitive they are to drive style.
Also noticed, it takes quite a while for the EGT temp to go below 200degC, when stationary before switching off. Anyone know the rule of thumb for ideal temp before turning off?
I also now get oil temp pressure and temp, as well as coolant temp.
The EMS 1 is fitted to my cubby hole with enough length for me to take it out and hold it from the driver side.

ooh - and with this http://www.arduino.cc/ - the possibilities are endless!! (budget linked)...
Might build by own unit and sell the EMS1 eventually
- long term project though.

Great minds think alike.
I have also been looking at Arduino based do-it-yourself solution - spent the last two weeks reading up on it.
As well as online, you can also buy Arduino's and various shields locally at a few places, including Communica in Samrand, Centurion.
Was thinking of making it a 1-DIN form factor then can fit in the centre console.
Is the EMS1 based on Arduino?
The sensor for the EGT is a type K thermocouple. There are designs online for signal conditioning the type K thermocouple (with cold-junction compensation, linearisation and amplification) to an Arduino analog input.Gemaskerde Tuinvurk wrote:Don't think so... But I'm sure you would be able to read the sensor output (it's supposedly some type of standard sensors)

Programming the Arduino is easy...getting all the sensors etc is not so easy. If someone can source some good sensors, I'll be willing to program the arduinos.
