Hi Guys
I took my 07 Gen 4 Pajero 3.2DID to Supaquick and as it turns out according to there suspension machine my front right shock is poked....
They quoted me R6000 to replace all 4 shocks with Monroe that carry a 5yr/100 000km warranty which sounds great but what are my other options and at what price?
I really wanted to lift the vehicle to piss on some awesome looking Jeep Wranglers and put on fatter takkies but I do not think the standard rims can take anything bigger?
I was also told that putting a lift kit on a SWB is a bad idea...but hear that some shock kits include a lift already...
Can you please comment on the follwing points and label them as such:
1 Your view on Monroe shocks for a Pajero
2 Alternatives for just a straight replacement shock
3 Will a lift kit be bad for the SWB?
4 If a lift kit is fine which brand and get from where?
Tx for the help in advance
Hi, there are quite a few threads on this topic. But to answer in short:
1) the KYB shocks from the dealers are better (and cheaper last I checked). They are also happy up to a 50mm (maybe even 60mm) lift, if just installing spacers.
2) see other threads - depends on whether you are adding weight (towing/winches /bull bars etc)
3) if you mean like the iron man or old man emu lift kits, just know they can also increase ride stiffness and thus impact tar driving comfort.
4) ideal to get shocks that are matched to the coils, some folks have had good experiences with OME (but they are expensive). I would wait for comment from them.

I put in Monroe 4x4 Adventure shocks and so far I'm happy, better ride comfort than the worn shocks I had. I paid R5200 at speedy in Randburg and in the same week I got a quote from hi-q and they were R4500 fitted. R6000 is a bit steep.
As for a lift you can go iron man for the best price but there are varying reports over the quality and comfort. Spacers from Stofpad4x4 or longer coils from Mikem are your options. Mikem is in Joburg CBD and they are suspension "experts" so they could advise you on the correct coil/shock combo for your preferred use (loaded/unloaded/towing etc.) but he is a Bilstein agent so your choices there are limited.
I'm still deciding between spacers and new progressive coils from Mikem, I will only decide once I've gone to Mikem for his advice.
