Hello. Both my front and middle plugs blew over the holidays due to a faulty portable cheap DVD player. Anybody got removal instructions, I tried to have a look but it doesn't look that easy and I don't want to damage the dash or centre console trying to figure it out by trial and error. It's for a Gen4 LWB GLS. Thanks.

Hi Kurt
Look on this thread as to how to remove the middle console. Looks easy enough: https://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/view ... =27&t=4831 I'm sure from there you will get to the front plug.
The middle one I am presuming the one inside the centre cubby hole? That one should not be that difficult. If you pull the cup holder part of the ctr console up (straight up) then you will have access to the "inners".
Hope this helps

Hi gerbeck1,
AFAIK the front (cigarette lighter) has a non-replaceable fusible link, so you will have to replace the whole assembly if that has melted.
The aux in the centre cubby hole does not have that (it is not made to hold an actual lighter).
Are you sure it is not just a fuse?

Fuse is fine, I'm sure of that (no. 8 in the engine bay)

Kaiv, I have fitted John's brackets so I've removed the radio before. I also thought of that but because there is that little storage area above the lighter it seems that I might not have access, the recess of the storage area goes quite deep into the dash. I wonder if I should just try it anyway?

Andrew, I managed to remove the fusible link in the centre console plug. It was a bit of a mission but once I got the cubby out completely (unclipped 3 plugs) I was able to reassembled the thing. I really think they injection moulded the aux plug into the cubby, that thing is vas!!! Anyway, thanks for the tips so far at least one of them works now

Hi gerbeck1,
Progress!
The other one should be easy.
4 hex head phillips in the bottom of the lower compartment of the centre console if I remember rightly and then the whole thing lifts up.
Can't remember if you need to first pry up the cupholder (it is only held in with clips).
Just had a look - I think you should be able to get to the back of the centre console aux plug and the wiring (so you can check with a multimeter) just by popping up the cup holder.
Good luck.

Hi Andrew, sorry if my terminology is misleading but I got the "middle" one sorted but not the one in the front dash
. For that I still need to figure out how to remove the bottom half of the dashboard. Next weekend's job

But you were spot on, pull the cupholders out and remove the 4 screws and then another 2 in the armrest cubby and it comes out easily. I also did some cleaning down there, 2 small kids sure can leave a lot of mess in a car

Hi Kurt,
To get to the front cigarette lighter you can look at the manuals - chapter 52A page 12.
If you have never downloaded the manuals then make sure that you are logged in and then go to Pajero - Gen3 workshop manual. You should find a download button towards the bottom right of the page. You may have to scroll down to see the download button.
As you will see from chapter 52A p12 you have to work from the back forward. Be careful when you remove part 5 (they call it the indicator panel). That is the part that the cup holder clips into. Part 5 has some heavy plastic clip arrangement at the front on each side. You must NOT force the front of part 5 upwards before moving the whole part backwards, else it will break the clips which are an integral part of part 5. (Please don't embarrass me by asking how I know this.)
