One question: Can one realy recondition CV joints? My impression is that the actual rolling surfaces are case hardened and when they machine the marks "out", they must go through the case hardening. The reconditioned CVs might be OK for a few kilos, but then they will start to wear at quite an fast rate. Your comments please.

I agree with your post, and cannot see how the ball-cage tolerances can be maintained if the balls are machined.
(Unless of course they don't machine anything, but replace worn items with new / good ones.
