Barberton Tie in the Dots 2014
Gents,

Should we attempt another trip this year?
Do we plan an overnight on the mountain?
Do we target a later date, maybe late Nov or early Dec? See attached pic of mountain that time of the year, but with a good chance of a thunder storm in the afternoon

Cloyd,

Good news. Always great to spend some time with you. What is your opinion on a "overnighter" on the mountain? Then we can see if our beasts can manage the climb with a caravan in tow

AND lie low that evening while lightning strikes probe our caravans for a weak spot :o

Gents,

This thread is a teaser. Lets debate attendance, a date and a possible overnight on the mountain.

I just thought to post this date as far away from the mid May event as possible.

Roelf

PS. Cloyd, you can sleep in my little veta blokkie if you bring the Cobra!
Re: Barberton Tie in the Dots 2014
Let us talk dates........would love to attend this year.....will service the pajero early enough to sort out any issues that may show itself after the service.....like a stripped sump plug.

Re: Barberton Tie in the Dots 2014
Date debate:

1)Untill mid Sep the mountains are pretty grey. After that they start to get colour - depending on how badly they were burnt.

2)Our normal date of end Sep, has a reasonable grass covering and plentyfull little veld flowers, but the thunderstorm season is still in its building phase.

3)Oct is the start of the thunderstorms and you gents may recall the hail hammering my SWB received in November. The veld gets really lush.

4)By December everything is olive green and overgrown and the afternoons can get unbearably hot - but the mountain high-ground can be as much as 8C cooler. I usually run a track-cutting exercise during Nov, so the overgrowing isn't a huge problem for a potential trip.

This is a very brief overview of what to expect. Personally am I a hot afternoon and overgrown, olive green bush, type of guy. BUT I really don't mind which date you gents prefer.

Please post here or PM me your preferences so that we can cross in a weekend on the calander.

Please indicate if you want to sleep on the mountain - I see no problem if some want to and others not, it isn't a logistical nightmare.
