Desperately seeking a coil
I am told by the service guy at Rola Motors where my Pajero has been for a week now, that there is no stock in SA of the coil that is needed to be replaced.
Apparently it's only available from Japan via Imperial. In the meanwhile, I sit without a vehicle.

Is there anyone here that can point me to a local source (I'll even settle for a used item)

Part Number – ZLMD314583
Part Name – Ignition Coil

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Desperately seeking a coil
What motor is that? 3.8 or 3.5v6?

I have heard of someone who has used a Hyundai terracan 3.5v6 coil pack for their Pajero due to part supply issues.
As far as I know Hyundai are using the gen2 Pajero chassis, engine and drive train under license from mitsubishi? The coils pack should be identical?

Else search for Martin at part hunt know the forum for second hand parts.

Nick, you're a star.
It's the 3.5 motor so I'm off to Hyundai first thing this morning.

OK, so here's what happened:

Went to Hyundai - turns out it's not the same, but that was academic because they didn't have anything in stock either

After much phoning and running around, I went into a place that was recommended in Brackenfell and showed the guy the coil.
He immediately said: "Mitsubishi Colt?" and I said said: " No. Pajero" but was really impressed that he recognised it.

He disappears into the back and comes out with a genuine Mitsubishi part..... .....I just about had an orgasm...........

I drove straight back to Rola and handed the part to them (boy, was the service chappie surprised...

Anyways, here's a huuuuuge shout out for Sparxx Automotive for not only saving me money (a few rand cheaper than the dealer price) and time, but also for the absolutely knowledgeable and helpful folk who man the counter.
