Gen 3 rear coilsprings
Hi all Pajerers

I live in Kitwe, Zambia and recently recieved my 1999 Pajero gen3 imported from Japan.

The car has recorded 80,000km, is in very good condition and drives and ride just as being described by the proud owners of this forum.

The only gripe is sagged rear coilsprings and I would like to have it replaced with new OEM springs. Any suggestion on where can this be done in Pretoria.

Re: Gen 3 rear coilsprings
Good day Awie

That is some very low millage for a pajero. Congrats. Hope you enjoy every minute in your new vehicle.

In Pretoria you can try safari 4x4, LA sport, 4x4 mega world, axe4x4, that's the companies that show on a quick google search...but for aftermarkert coils.

OME - I know 4x4megaworld stocks those, not sure what other brands are stocked by other suppliers. If you drive the V6 pajero, I have a brand new set of OME front coils I would like to let go...I drive a diesel so no use for them.

If you want to go for OEM (original shocks).....not sure where to go.....guess stealers is the last place you should go to.

Maybe look at air bags option as well?

Hope someone that installed original shocks can help....and welcome.

Hi Awie,

Congrats on your new acquisition and welcome to pajero ownership.

Why not speak to one of the spring companies in Kitwe and ask them if it is possible to retension your rear coils?

A quick internet search shows:
Universal Spring Manufacturers and maybe there are others.

Then for when you are carrying extra loads, as suggested above, use the inflatable inserts from Air Spring Supply Company (they are made by Firestone, so maybe there are suppliers in Zambia).
Re: Gen 3 rear coilsprings
Thank you MTompson and Andew Ashton for your response.

It is only the rear coils that is affected. It seems like a design oversight, as all the 1999 Gen 3 imports suffers the same fate.

I drove to Gauteng this week and, what a car. Smooth, powerfull v6 3.5 gdi engine that will punish your wallet if you cannot controll your right foot. Really difficult to as this tame beast feels best at home at 160, with the revs sitting at 3400. I know, I know. Just had to say it. With cruise controll set to 110kph, Yawn, expect 8 kpl. Not bad at all.

Thanks for the welcome
