Low Range?
Hi guys, I am looking at buying a 2003 3.2 DID. The Pajero looks in fine condition but when I took it for a test drive, it does not engage low range. Everything else works fine, is this a common problem? And would it be expensive to fix?

If it is an auto box, you need to have it in neutral before shifting to low range.

The transfer case is electrically operated, if not in neutral it won't engage low range.

Hi

I recently fixed my 3.2 manual.

I took it to Mitspro in Littleton, they replaced the 5 censors for almost R6,000. You can easily replace the vacuum solenoid yourself for about R900. They tested my Pajero with there tester and recommended it. After the repair the 4x4 worked fine.

Hi JPM

Try this first! Select low range. Straighten the steering wheel. Place in neutral and rev the engine a couple of times. This also helps with selecting 4x4 and locking the diffs. If you notice the 4x4 lights flashing, it means it has not yet engaged. Driving slowly while weaving left to right might also help.
