12V plug in rear
I went to a sparky to make me a 12V extension so I can use my fridge in the missus double cab. We chatted about the thickness of the wire he used.

Then I remembered a friend who once opened up his gen 2 pajero rear plug to take a look as it was not working. And that standard wire was mighty thin.

So can the sparkies here tell me if we all take a risk if we plug a fridge in the standard 12V plug in the rear of our pajeros?
Re: 12V plug in rear
No risk. The socket is fused and the fuse is designed to protect the wire used.

No risk, IF its fused.....

Sometimes the fuse incorporated in the lighter socket blows, and if you do not know about that fuse, you can really battle to find out why the socket is dead.

To reach the socket, you have to remove the panel around the right rear window, and then the lower panel in which the socket is mounted. It's easier to not let the fuse blow!
Re: 12V plug in rear
Problem is that a thin conductor limits the maximum voltage the fridge will receive. So for best results copy the cable thickness that the fridge supplier used on the standard cable connecting the fridge. They are rather THICK. My suggestion is have a proper fused cable installed all the way from your battery.

Ja they are all fused.

Swambo had a flat about 1km away from home with Die Valk. So I told her to use the compressor in the boot (a gift which I haven't used yet) to just get the tire to pressure and get home.
she then proceeded to blow the fuses in all 3 12v sockets of the car... at least she got home :?

must say I would rather have had the fuse under the steering wheel blow - much easier to repair and replace.

Re: 12V plug in rear
Mine has not had power since I bought the Pajero.
I also have no power on the socket in the center consol
Where are these fuses located.
If you want to run the fridge from the rear socket I would suggest using a thicker cable to minimise the volt drop to the rear socket.
