In case anybody is wondering, it is still "all systems go" for this year's Tie in the Dots.
T-1week...dan ry ons Barberton toe via Swaziland. [WHITE SMILING FACE]
I am also getting ready for the trip with a fresh oil change planned for today, using the agents in Centurion 'nogal', just to go see how Mitsu are doing these days.
RADIOS - (WALKIE-TALKIE style!!)
Can I maybe ask EVERYONE GOING to try and beg, borrow, steal/buy some of these licence free handheld UHF 446MHz radios like Zartek pro 8, etc from places like Outdoor Warehouse, Safari center etc etc. They ussually all work on similar frequencies(446 MHz UHF) so should be able to talk to each other. I will try and bring a few pairs, but we might need more, so if you have bring. We had some last year on the trip that I brought along and to me it really adds a whole lot of fun to the trip to communicate while on the move. The handhelds are not great sound and coverage wise, but do OK.
Thanks
CATS

You guys bring the radios, I'll bring the pangas. Then I'll fiddle with the radios while you swing the pangas.
Thanks, CATS.CATS wrote: Can I maybe ask EVERYONE GOING to try and beg, borrow, steal/buy some of these licence free handheld UHF 446MHz radios like Zartek pro 8, etc from places like Outdoor Warehouse, Safari center etc etc.
Somebody on "that other forum", who used to be a faithful Pajero owner but bought a treg, suggested standardising on channel 4 tone 4 (for 4x4 default channel usage). So maybe those who have radios could set their radios to this as a starter.
