Has anyone fitted Powerbrakes to their Gen4?
Hi Guys
I've enquired from powerbrake about the availability of brakes for the Gen 4. Here are their answer:

"We manufacture our All Terrain series FRONT kit for your vehicle consisting of slotted front discs and upgraded Bendix Ultimate brake pads and is designed to give you an improvement in braking performance (stopping power and fade resistance) and disc and pad life.

We do not manufacture a rear disc and pad kit - if you need to replace your rears, we recommend fitting the OEM (Mitsubishi) rears. The rears do comparatively little of the overall brake work and it is therefore not essential to upgrade the rear in terms of higher friction or components that can handle higher levels of heat - the standard components will be be sufficient at the rear.
The All Terrain series kit:
- consists of two front slotted high performance discs and a matching set of Bendix Ultimate front brake pads
- is developed for increased stopping power and fade resistance over OE parts
- offers improved disc and pad life
- runs quietly and works from cold (i.e. no need for warming up first)
- fits as per a normal disc and pad change – no modifications necessary"

Has anyone fitted powerbrake to their Gen4 yet? And, if so, does it work well?
Also, should I have it installed at a Mitsubishi dealer? My car is no longer under Motorplan etc.

regards

Sounds like a good idea to fit them. I wouldn't bother with a dealer, brakes are easy to fit so any fitment centre will manage just fine (at a much lower labour rate). What is the price for a full front kit?

Watching this post with interest as I'm also considering replacing my Gen 3's with Powerbrake products when the time comes.

Hi Guys

I had the brakes fitted about 2 weeks ago. I've gone through the "bedding in" process as per the instructions, and the brakes are great. No Shudder, and the stopping distance seems to be shorter than the previous brakes. I must add, that the replaced brakes was in poor condition. In hindsight, a good skim, would've sorted out the brake shudder, but, I would've had to do it again soon after.

Will let you know if anything "weird" happens. Now I only need to replace my yokohama tyres. Will however give it another 10,000km....

Re: Has anyone fitted Powerbrakes to their Gen4?
Just done the whole bangshoot - Powerbrakes in front and new OEM disks on the rear.
Tip - Union Motors Nelspruit were R800 more expensive :o than De Witts Motors in Ermelo - and the Ermelo guys had the spares available!
Still have a left rear shudder though. Next step is the brake booster.
Any advice out there?

HELP!!!
I have reached the end of my tether (and soon my holiday cash...)
Done the Powerbrake thing for the front - magic. Done the OEM thing for the rest, magic till the first trip down the Nkomati valley on the MR2 in Swaziland = massive shudder.
Back to Wouter at De Witts in Ermelo. Left the vehicle there for a week where he went through the vehicle head to toe. Done in situ skimming and we thought we had it nailed.Even made it up and down the Nkomati valley - once. The second time = shudder.
R20gorillas worth of discs, skimming, pads, labour et al later, and I walked over the street to the VW shop to find out about Amaroks....
Any of you clever guys out there that can assist - my 10 year tenure with Pajero is about to end as I do not negotiate the safety of my family.

Its strange but the prado suffers the same shudder.
Where does your shudder come from now though, the powerbrake or the original equipment.

I've enquired from powerbrake about the availability of brakes for the Gen 4. Here are their answer:

I tried Powerbrake about 3 years ago and unfortunately the results were not good. Within about 15,000km started to develop shudder. I reverted to OEM and since then done another 40,000km with no problem...
