It is not quite that simple a question. I currently live in Canada but I'm moving to Gabon and I've bought a 2010 Pajero there. I would like to take a tow bar (called a hitch receiver in Canada) with me but they quit selling Monteros/Pajero in Canada in 2008 so the hitch that I can find fits a 2008 Montero. Can anyone tell me or send me instructions / pictures / drawings so I can confirm the hitch will fit my Pajero? Thx.
It might fit the chassis but you would probably need to cut the bumper to get it to clear.
Maybe phone a towbar fitment place in South Africa and ask if a gen3 towbar and gen4 towbar is the same part number. But I doubt it, due to the bumper.

Cats, I'm on Tapatalk on my phone, so maybe I'm missing something on the OP's detail. My question is: Why would the 2008 be a Gen3?
I'm also thinking 2008 is gen4. The change came in 2006/2007? If it's a gen4....I'm sure it will fit but I can be wrong.
Gents. You are correct!
I was thinking that the OP mentioned gen3 as I thought they stopped production on the gen3 in Canada. Obviously I made too many assumptions.

Hi, maybe we should confirm with the OP because Cats' logic has plenty merit
I think you have answered my question. Thanks
As long as I can confirm the tow bar is for a Gen 4 Pajero, I should be fine (ie. There shouldn't be any difference between a 2008 and 2010 Pajero tow bar).

My information was incorrect. The tow bar is for a 2006 Pajero (Gen 3). So my question now is - if I can't find the right tow bar to fit a Gen 4 - would you recommend bringing this with me to Gabon with the intention of making it fit?

There is an installation pdf with good detail of the receiver.
I'm running out of time and options. I may have to wait till I get there to figure something out but from what I've been told, that may be a real challenge (and expensive...).

My first thought is that it will fit the mounting holes without too much hassles, but you would need to cut the plastic bumper.
Are you sure you wont be able to find a proper gen4 towbar in Gabon for reasonable money? Surely the freight alone on the the gen3 towbar would be horrendous for such a big lump of steel?

Here are some pictures of the tow bar. Can anyone tell me if the bolt pattern will fit a Gen 4? I noticed this tow bar does not have the vertical bolting sections. Is that going to be a problem?
Freight is not a concern as if I can get something figured out this week, I can ship it over with the rest of our stuff.
Thanks,
Jae
