Hi guy's
I am hoping someone can help me. I have a 2007 GLX Gen 4 3.2 DiD
When driving more that about 30 km the ABS and ESC lights come on. When I stop and switch the car off and on it's gone then after a while it come's back. Here is the odd thing though this only happens if you drive with the lights on, lights off nothing.
Also the green lights goes off and the center diff lock starts flashing but if you switch the lights on and off while driving it goes off, lastly if I press the brake pedal the park lights goes on and off as soon as you lift off the pedal.
I had the car at the local auto electricians and they can't find a fault. I am about 200 km away from the nearest agents and I know they are going to charge an arm and a leg to fix this, so I just want to make sure there is no other option than taking it to the agents
regards
Barrie
Hi Barrie
Gremlins like these are sometime caused by bad/poor earthing between the battery and the chassis, look in the engine bay for the thick earth strap from the battery negative to the chassis to the engine block, and make sure it is in good condition and properly attached at all points.
Alternatively look for the thinner ECU earthing wires(normally black in colour) around the engine bay and make sure they are all in good condition and not corroded in any way and the attachment point is clean.
What is your alternator charging rate (should be 13.8-14.2volts), if it is too high it can also cause issues with the various ECU's scattered around the vehicle.
