I want to fit a locking devise to my GLX so that the doors auto lock at a certain speed. This is common in almost all cars nowadays but I cannot find a place that install (or knows about) such an add on system.
The best I can find is a timer system but that sounds like a "lock yourselve out" system to me.
Does anybody know of such add ons?
Chris
I have a similar requirement.
What I can't understand is that Mitsubishi have given the GLX the ability to activate the wing mirrors at around 25 Kph but not the central locking system.
There should be a way to use the wing mirror signal to trigger the central locking.
I look forward to hearing if this has been done.

Chris,
It is possible. I had a system fitted to my Pajero. It locks when one activates the starter. The cost if I remember correctly : R1900,00. Next question : Centurion. It was at one of the alarm/ reverse assist, sound fitment shops. I suppose that most of them should be able to provide a kit. Unfortunately, this business has moved and I do not have their new address. Suggest you try Autostyle in Johanesburg (0116611700)or in Unhlanga (0315665099).

Thanks for these comments. I will definitely investigate the wing mirror signal as it makes sence (to me) to get the signal from there. Will report back if I make progress

When I bought Pajero Sport salesman offered to fit unit to car that would Auto Lock doors free of charge. Actually it costs +/- R1000 at CRS Boksburg, tel. 0119182292. Found it to be useless as it locks car at startup so when I reverse car out or garage and my wife has to get in, doors are locked. I then fitted a time delay to only lock doors after 20 seconds to avoid this problem. I cannot understand why this is not standard on a car of this price.
You can install an aftermarket Alarm system. Most of them has an Auto lock option that can be activated.
I have one installed in my other car that locks the door with the first press on the brakes after the car is started for at least 30sec, so it won't lock when getting out of the garage or shifting at the beginning.

Mitshubishi now offer and is freely available an “Start & lock” kit for doors on their website. I am aware of some issues years ago with the Auto Speed unit and possible problems after installing with onboard computer regarding fuel range etc.
Has anybody installed the Start & lock system? Happy? Problems.
Feedback appreciated.
